The Park is a largely artifical landscape, the lakes are former gravel pits. The tree are mainly self seeded, but without any management, either nature or human, they tend to grow tall and with a high canopy which blocks out any ground plants. So areas of the Park are peroidically pollarded to regenerate lower grow. This small area is left as nature tree circle, the outline is marked with old logs.
